Be Cautious of the Bunny Bearing Gifts

As you gather together with family and friends this Easter season, keep in mind that the Easter holiday has its
hazards for our pets. If the Easter bunny is planning to visit your house to hide baskets of goodies, make sure that
he knows the following:

1. Colorful grass used in Easter baskets is made from plastics and can be dangerous if nibbled and swallowed by
curious cats.
2. The candy placed in baskets can disturb a pet's digestive system.
3. Chocolate can be fatal to pets.
4. Small toys can be ingested and cause blockages.

Make sure that you ask the Easter bunny to place your baskets out of the reach of your companion animals. The
Easter Lily is a popular plant this time of year. Extra caution should also be used when bringing them into a home
where felines reside. If ingested, these beautiful plants are poisonous to cats. If you plan on traveling to visit
family or friends with your pet, consider whether or not your pet will be comfortable and happy. Some pets are
better left with a relative or a good boarding facility.
