Danger Lurks in the Garage
If you use your garage as a storage area keep in mind it could be dangerous for
pets. If your cat or dog is out on
leash or has the freedom to wander and enter the garage-beware. Chemicals
commonly used to beautify lawns,
control weeds or fertilize gardens can be toxic. Oil, gasoline and antifreeze
are usually stored in garages. Store chemicals properly and make sure to wipe up
any spills. Chemical spills that a pet walks through can be licked off of fur
and can be harmful. Make sure to keep things like insecticides, bug bait,
cleaners and paint thinners up and away from curious cats and dogs. If you
suspect your pet has ingested a harmful toxin contact your veterinarian or
animal emergency center immediately.
