National Professional Pet Sitters Week

The week of March 7-13, 2004 is National Professional Pet Sitters Week. It will mark the 10th year that pet sitting has become a recognized profession in a fast-growing industry.

Critter Sitters, Inc. and I Care Petcare, members of the Professional Pet Sitters Association of Wisconsin (PPAW), would like to invite you to learn more about this growing service. More pet owners are deciding to use in-home pet care when going on vacations or business trips. Many people agree that even a temporary departure from it’s home can be a stressful experience for any pet. Pet sitting professionals allow your pets to stay in their familiar surroundings.

Many owners agree that their pets, when left with a professional pet sitter, experience less stress and adjust better to their owner’s absence. Most professional pet sitters also provide home security by giving their clients’ homes a lived-in appearance. Pet transporting to vet appointments, exotic animal care, and a host of other personalized services are also offered.

Many pet sitting professionals log long hours to provide their clients with quality in-home pet care. They are knowledgeable professionals, many are certified in pet first aid, pet behavior, and a variety of other courses offered to the pet sitting professional. Professional Pet Sitters Week is the perfect time to show your appreciation of your pet care professional.

PPAW is a Wisconsin-based business network of professional pet sitters that provides support, advice, and services to both pet sitters and pet owners. The founder of this group, Kelley Young, explains “The group was formed to promote the quality of pet care throughout Wisconsin by providing a support network for the individuals engaged in the pet sitting profession.  Through regular meetings, educational sessions, and a well-used message board, the group has provided a tool for sharing, networking, and individual growth. In 2004, we also have a special focus on educating the public to the many benefits of stay-at-home pet care. National Pet Sitters Week is the perfect opportunity to do just that.”
