In Loving Memory--Bandit Jones
(4/4/89-2/19/02). Our little
sweetheart, Bandit, passed over Rainbows
Bridge on February 19,
2002, three short months after being diagnosed with
cancer. She is
deeply missed. Bandit was a very sweet, gentle dog who lived
for
belly rubs! She absolutely loved having her “friends” visit her (dog
boarders and foster kittens). In honor of her memory, a brick has
been
engraved and placed at the Wisconsin Humane Society. "He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion." -- Unknown New Services Offered.
Express
Service. Short visits for potty breaks and feeding are now being
offered for $8 per visit. Clients must live within five minutes of my home
to take advantage of this service. Call me at 414-871-1851 for details.
Pets and Summer Heat. This is just a reminder that the heat of summer can have an effect on your pet’s health. Remember to keep fresh water available at all times (fill the bowl with ice to keep it cool throughout the day). Limit your pet’s activity level if you notice excessive panting or lethargy, and be sure to provide a shady place to lay down when outside. Try to keep your house cooled through the use of air conditioning, and remember that unattended fans can be fire hazards. Of course, NEVER leave your pet in the car, even for just a few minutes. Patriotic Holidays. The pets of those who book services over Memorial Day (May 27) and Independence Day (July 4) will enjoy a free patriotic bandana or collar to wear around their necks! If traveling is not in your plans, you can still purchase a bandana for your dog for $2 each or a collar for your cat or dog for $1 each. Please indicate the neck measurements for the bandana and exact measurements of collars. Speaking of traveling, my holiday and summer vacation bookings do fill fast. Reserve your spot soon. Call 414-871-1851, access www.icarepetcare.com or email icarepetcare@msn.com. Pet Afraid of Firecrackers?
Many
pets are afraid of the loud noise associated with firecrackers (and
thunderstorms). To alleviate some of his anxiety, allow your pet to go to
his “safe” spot. Using “comforting” words (it’s okay, it won’t
hurt you) may actually increase his nervousness. Experts say, instead, to be
upbeat and try to distract your pet with a game he really enjoys. For severe
anxiety, behavior modification can help reduce or remove the fear
completely. For more information, see www.ddfl.org/behavior/fear.htm. |
