Reiki
What is Reiki? Reiki (pronounced ray-key) literally means
Universal Life Force-Energy. Reiki is a hands-on relaxation technique
that can promote healing on physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual
levels. As Energy travels through the body, it
breaks up blockages and creates balance, which enables the receiver to facilitate their own healing
and maintain optimal health. Reiki originated in Japan and is commonly offered in
many spas and hospitals. What
Reiki can do: Reiki provides deep relaxation and can stimulate
healing, shorten
healing time, reduce pain and stress, create mental balance, and
improve quality of life. Reiki can never cause harm. It can be used
safely in conjunction with any type of therapy or treatment; it
complements but does not replace veterinary or other medical care.
How Reiki can help you and your
animals: In addition to simple pure enjoyment and wonderful
relaxation, I have
seen Reiki work in animals to lessen anxiety, increase appetite, increase trust,
decrease shyness, speed up the healing process of wounds, assist in
quality of life issues and the transition period during the last stages
of life, and in numerous other ways. In people, I have seen an increase
in healing speed, decrease in pain, release of past emotional issues, improvement in confidence and
ability, safety and protection, and more. Click here
for specific examples and more information.
Reiki Sessions
How to schedule a Reiki session. If you would like
your animals to get Reiki in conjunction with a petsitting visit, simply
let me know when you fill out your normal petsitting reservation form.
If you want a Reiki session for yourself or
your animals but do not need my petsitting services, click

What happens during a
session. Animals will lay or sit wherever they want. People will lay
fully clothed on my massage table (or will sit on a kitchen chair if that
is more comfortable for them). I will place my hands on or slightly
above the body in specific locations. Sensations of soothing warmth, coolness, or tingling may be
felt as the receiver draws in the Reiki energy. Reiki will
go wherever it is most needed. Most people feel very relaxed and may
fall into a light sleep. For relaxation purposes and to
facilitate healing, I may incorporate aromatherapy and/or other modalities.
Animal communication often occurs during Reiki sessions (see below for
more info).
Location. Animals are visited in their own home as that is where
they are most comfortable. People can choose to have their session
wherever they are most comfortable and where they can relax without
interruption: their home or mine.
Hours. Sessions are offered by appointment only,
preferably at least 7 days in advance.
Rates: People may select 30- or 60-minute sessions for
themselves, which includes a few minutes for any questions that may have
arisen during your session. It is best to start each animal out with
Reiki at 5 or 10 minutes each,
but you may increase or decrease session lengths at any time as desired
or needed.
If your main objective is animal communication, 60 minutes is needed for
at least the first time.

Animal Attunements to Reiki
Just as people can be attuned to Reiki energy in order to assist in
the healing of themselves and others, animals can as well. This is
especially helpful if animals are experiencing disease or
physical/emotional illness, as well as those in or near their final
stages of life.
I have found it is
also extremely useful to attune animals to Reiki when it is the human
who is experiencing the dis-ease. Animals are natural healers but often
use their own energy for that healing, which can deplete their energy
and expose them to illness of their own. When they are Reiki attuned,
Universal Life Force Energy flows through them for both their own
highest good and the highest good of the receiver with no negative
affects on the animal.
If the animal gives permission to be
attuned to Reiki, it is recommended that the human attend classes to be
attuned as well, although it is not required. 30 to 60 minutes is
usually needed for each animal attunement.
Animal Communication
We are both the teacher and the student. Our animals chose to come
into our lives for many reasons, one of which is to help us learn that
which we desire to know. They are willing to teach us through their
participation in our lives. Often, they act as mirrors, reflecting back
to us ourselves. And sometimes, they have needs of their own they wish
to communicate with us.
Is your pet trying
to communicate with you but you either can't hear and/or don't
understand what they're saying or are unable to effectively resolve the
issue? With your pet's
permission and cooperation,
I am able to see, hear, and understand these messages and relay them to
you. I have
been given the ability to communicate on the spirit level with animals
and may be of assistance with you and your animal in the communication
process.
Communication
generally occurs during Reiki sessions and is included in that fee (see
above). Reiki/communication services can be received in conjunction with
petsiting, or on their own.
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is the use of fragrant substances distilled from plants,
called essential oils, to improve health and quality of life and reduce
pain, stress, and depression.
Please let me know if you are interested in or desire more information on
this service.
